Today, I'm talking about these gorgeous Candy Glow Butter Balms by YSL. I have the shades 1B, 3B, and 44B that were provided to me for reviewing purposes.
I've been a fan of butter balms since the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter days. Tell me you remember those because they were phenomenal! Looking back on blog posts, I see the photos in my old review are no longer showing. I'll look into my archive and try to fix that, because those days deserve to live on for nostalgia purposes. 😀 So enter these YSL Candy Glow Tinted Butter Balms and I have one of the most suitable substitutes for those that I've come across! The addition of shea butter is always a win-win for me and make these feel and apply smooth as silk. I don't think they are particularly long-lasting in color and glossiness, but they are lasting in moisturization and hydration.
These retail for $54 CAD at Sephora Canada.
1B (Pink Sunrise) is a delicate light and sheer pink. Oddly enough, this is a shade I would normally gravitate towards, but I much prefer 3B and 44B. I think it's because it's so cool toned and lately I have been wanting slightly more neutral warm tones. Now I say that for me, as these have pH-adjusting pigments so it might show up a little differently for you.
3B (Rosewood Blush) is more on the neutral side of things with a slight rosey tint. This one has better color payoff for me than 1B and it really is an all seasons kind of lip color. I can see this working for a lot of people.
44B (Nude Lavalliere) is a warmer pink that I have been gravitating more towards recently. For me, it's a MLBB (my lips but better) shade that can easily work for everyday. I think if 1B looks too cool for you, this is the best choice.
I think the darker shades that have the most color payoff are going to give you a lipstick-balm hybrid feel and the lighter shades are going to read like the tinted balm that they are. It depends what you're wanting. I want 5B, a reddish brown, for autumn! What a beauty!Have you tried these? They have the beautiful lipstick case that YSL is known for, with the same fruity scent that I can never put my finger on. Is it mango? 🥠As always, being a person who hates full price, I certainly say use points or wait for discounts. Worth a splurge, but it doesn't have to be full-fledged! Might be worth adding to the cart with the upcoming spring sale!
