During Sephora's spring sale, I picked this up at a steep discount. I don't know if that means this formula is being discontinued, but there are still a few shades available online and your local store may still have some shades in stock. This is the first time I'm actually dipping my toes into the Fenty Beauty line. Took me long enough! And did you hear that Sephora Canada is pledging to make 25% of their brands be BIPOC-owned by 2026?! Great to see!
Let's get into my thoughts and swatches of the Mattemoiselle formula and the shade Candy Venom!
It's really hard to capture this lipstick, because it is a bit more hot pink but it comes across a little redder in pictures. It is a real beauty, though! The formula is opaque on first swipe for me, but I do find it drags a little against dry areas of my lips if I forget lip balm and glides super smoothly when I do use a balm.
I haven't seen anyone else mention it and I'm sure it is completely down to personal preference, but I can't stand the round shape. For me, it makes the application a lengthier and more difficult process. I prefer lipsticks with the classic pointed end. I find them more precise! For this one, I'm definitely having to clean up my lip line more than I normally would. And given the brightness of this lipstick, it is 100% noticeable. Once cleaned up and applied, the color is stunning. The punch of pink will make you want to smile and the blue undertones will make that smile appear brighter. It's a win-win!
There are a myriad of shade options and something for everyone. I love the fun rose gold packaging and find it easy to open and hold. The flat sides mean that it isn't rolling across my vanity when I pull it out. I'm happy to own this! If you find a shade you like in stock, I say grab it. It's a beautiful matte formula where the pros outweigh the cons!
