Today, I'm sharing the first of four Juvia's Place palettes I got over the summer. It's one of my favorites of what I picked up, so I thought I'd start with it. I'm talking about The Nudes palette. It's small with only six shades, but mighty. The brand offers a few different smaller palettes like this, but this one felt the most versatile for me both alone and working with other palettes in my collection. Of course this was before the Taupes version came out, so that's on my wishlist now!
There's often a sale or discount code. At the time of publishing this post, this palette is on for $9 US. Not that the normal price tag of $14 US is bad by any means! Continue reading for my thoughts and swatches.
I'm so happy to have this in my rotation. It has a prime spot on my vanity because of how versatile it is. It's not because any of the shades are necessarily groundbreaking. A neutral is a neutral. It stands out because of pigmentation and how well it blends. When you're bombarded with nude colors, they have to stand out in other ways, don't they?
Going Down the Columns Left to Right:
- Shade 1 is a silvery pink champagne. A color I always gravitate to, much like Urban Decay's Sin. I love this shade for center of the eyelid!
- Shade 2 is a matte rose. Nice base below Shade 1 and 4. My skin is a bit too light to truly use this as its own in a matte look.
- Shade 3 is a matte beige. Nearly gets lost in my skin, but I like it in the eyebrow area!
- Shade 4 is another pink champage. My favorite of the palette! Packs a punch of beautiful shimmer!
- Shade 5 is a gold champagne. Pretty with a warm look. If I'm only using this palette for a look, I don't really use this. I much prefer it to use with other palettes and eyeshadows in my collection.
- Shade 6 is a warm brown. Not my favorite, but I don't mind it in eye looks as much as I thought I would. It doesn't look that appealing in the pan. I guess I just would have preferred a darker and cooler brown to work more cohesively with the champagnes, but it looks good with Shade 5 and does work well with other warmer palettes.
The shade selection isn't completely cohesive in my opinion, but it works. The shades are super versatile. If you have other shades like this in your collection that you like and love, I don't think that you are missing anything by not getting this specific palette. The formula and pigmentation is fabulous enough that I would recommend trying one of their palettes, though. Wait for those deals and discounts to pop up to save money and feel good about supporting a Black woman-owned business! Everyone wins!
