This purchase was a happy accident. While my husband was out getting our groceries, I had him look for the Physicians Formula x Weylie face palette and the worker at Shoppers lead him to this instead. My husband wasn't too sure, so he grabbed it anyway to err on the side of caution. It's obviously not the Weylie palette, but I did eventually get that and it will be featured in another post! I wasn't sure that I would keep this, but then I looked up reviews and saw quite a mix. I like when that happens sometimes and like to see which side of the road I end up on.
These skipped my radar somehow and I didn't even know these existed. It's not what I originally had in mind on that initial shopping trip, but I'm happy to have it. So yep, a happy accident! This format comes in two options - Tropical Days and Sultry Nights. I'm happy to have Tropical Days, because I think it is more up my alley in shade selection. Now onto the shades, formula, and swatches!
One thing I can appreciate is the fact that each shade has an actual name. Physicians Formula have set this format up in three quads and created looks to get started with. My personal favorite quad that they've set up is Heatwave, but I much prefer just choosing whichever color I'm wanting and not just sticking to the quads.
- Coastal Chic Quad - Barefoot in Brazil, White Sands, Coastal Chic, Tan Lines
- Heatwave Quad - Sightseeing, Heatwave, Sand Dunes, Coco Loco
- Ready for Rio - Ready for Rio, Pier Pressure, Rolling Tides, Island Hopping
I use a primer, but these last all day for me with no creasing. They do kick up quite a bit of powder, so I try to remember to do my eyes before face when wearing these. I'm one of those that usually does my face first. That's just how I've always done it! Which do you do first? I find these all blend like a dream and the purple and blue add fun pops of color to an otherwise neutral palette. Heatwave is the true standout for me, though. It is gorgeous!
If you're familiar with the rest of the Butter line, these have the same smell but it's pretty faint. A light coconut type of scent. Also, the back clearly states it comes with a double-ended brush. It is actually a sponge-tipped applicator, not a brush. I did try it and it is fine, but I think it would have fared better with a brush as I've found that to be the best way to apply and blend these. I do think these are a bit overpriced for a drugstore brand, but mine was on sale. I'd say I wouldn't pay full price for this, but I'd purchase it when it is on for a good sale. These palettes are normally $20 CA and available at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Did this palette capture your attention? If you have Tropical Days or Sultry Nights, I'd love to know what you think. I won't say it is a necessity, but I am happy to have it in my collection. And with the shade selection, it's super simple for me to combine it with my other palettes to achieve whatever look I'm wanting. Very versatile!
