I was recently given the opportunity to try Neutrogena's Bright Boost line of skincare. Having dry skin, I'm always looking for the words "hydrating" or "brightening" and different variations of the two. My first point I will make is the blatantly obvious one- this line is so darn aesthetically pleasing. I mean, look at that packaging. Maybe it isn't so stunning if you don't like pink but for me, this is not a line that I want to shut away somewhere. I want it standing prominently on my vanity. Well, at least the products that work for me. So let's get into that!
This Micro Polish is the cheapest item in the Bright Boost line and one of my favorites from it. Only needed 1-3 times a week, it doesn't feel like that much of an added step into my routine. Having sensitive skin, I'm usually weary of scrubs. This one is gentle enough that it doesn't leave lasting redness or irritate my skin. The formula works well at exfoliating my dry skin and making it feel smooth. It doesn't feel gritty to the touch like some other scrubs do and has a pleasant scent. I'd say this is priced right and you're getting a lot of uses and value out of your purchase. ($10.97 at Walmart Canada)
For a serum, I'm not surprised by the price because they can get extremely pricey. I actually prefer the Wrinkle Repair serum to this one, but I do like Bright Boost in some ways. This is my least favorite product from the line, however.
Part of the problem is the thickness of the formula and the type of dropper. This packaging works for the Wrinkle Repair because it's a thinner formula. In this instance, the dropper doesn't do a great job at getting the product out. It's a thick creamy consistency, probably the creamiest serum I've tried.
I also notice a shimmer in it and I wonder if that is what has been irritating some people's skin as they use it and if that is what simply gives the illuminating effect. All in all, I do feel that this makes my skin feel hydrated. My dry skin appreciates it, but it might be too much for oily skin types. ($27.97 at Walmart Canada)
I was most excited about trying this gel cream, as I do love trying hybrid formulas. This whole line being in pink packaging captured my eyes before my heart and this is the prettiest of the collection. It's a nice thick jar with a thoughtful cover inside, which I always appreciate. It feels more high end than it is.
I don't know that I truly get the gel aspect, because it looks more like a cream, applies more like a cream, and feels more like a cream. This actually works well for me with dry skin, but it might be too thick and much for oilier skin areas.
I do get a good dose of moisturization and hydration and after a few days, I did see a nice glow to my skin. This and the Micro Polish are my two top choices from this line. The price point is a bit steep, but a little goes a long way and I'm willing to spend on skincare if it works. ($27.97 at Walmart Canada)
This is my least favorite from the Bright Boost line. My main problem lies in that it just seems to be a basic moisturizer. I'm very happy with the addition of the SPF protection, but I just don't get anything additional from it that makes it stand out skin-wise.
I love the tube with the skinny tip applicator and that it doesn't smell like sunscreen. I just don't really notice a lot of moisturization or brightening. It's light in formula and hydration on my dry skin, but might work better for me as warmer weather arrives.
My other problem lies within the price. I just think it is overpriced for the amount you get. In all, it's a good product, but not great. I expected more from the description given. ($27.97 at Walmart Canada)
