I missed last month's version of this post, but I'm back at it this month. I couldn't very well miss this month when I'm all about the festive vibes! Next week is my Thanksgiving and we're celebrating by having dinner with my MIL that Friday to celebrate the holiday and her birthday. For the actual day, we have plans to watch the parade, football, and just making the day low-key. My husband is taking both days off (and the Monday!) to celebrate with me. Already looking forward to that long weekend!
I treat these posts like a way to share some favorites that don't really fit my monthly favorites post where I focus more on beauty, skincare, etc. Some of the categories change and some carry over each month. I'd love for you to share something you've been loving this month or recommendations. I always love that!
I got an offer from Spotify to do three months for the price of one and I leaped on it. My Spotify had been giving me like three ads every fifteen minutes and it was beyond annoying. It kind of feels like blackmail to get me to go to Premium and I ate into their hand, but it's a good discount so I'll deal for now. Was anyone else having that ad problem and still being promised one ad per 30 minutes of free music?
As for what I'm listening to, I've been on a classics kick. ABBA, Queen, Dusty Springfield, Linda Ronstadt, and the like. When I'm not on the classics bus, I hop on board the holiday train. Lea Michele put out a new Christmas album that ticks all of the boxes!
I've already hit my reading goal this year. It was set at 50 originally and I kept having to change it. I finally put it at 100 and I've surpassed that and still going. Do you make reading goals? It's easy to track on GoodReads (let's add each other)! At the moment, I'm reading The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. So far, I'm liking it better than I did The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware which I also finished recently. Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane and Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid both bored me and I understand that puts me a bit in the minority of my fellow readers.
As for romance, I enjoyed both Birthday Girl and Misconduct by Penelope Douglas. Both are a bit on the taboo side but written extremely well. The taboo in Misconduct being a parent/teacher relationship and Birthday Girl being a girl falling for her boyfriend's dad with an obvious age-gap.
Yep, our tree is up already! It went up last weekend. :) Just makes everything feel instantly much more festive.
I got Disney+ a day or two after it launched. I figured the first day would be a little nuts, so I waited it out. What's the first thing I watched? The Recess pilot and then the Doug pilot and now I'm working my way through those series and bringing back all of the nostalgia! Now, if they would only bring back Pepper Ann and The Weekenders! My kingdom for The Weekenders... If you have Disney+, what are you watching or wish they had available? I'm just so excited to have all of these gems in one place!
Proud sister alert! His football season just ended and he tried out for the basketball team and made it! I will forever be his biggest cheerleader. And tomorrow is his birthday. I wish I could be there to celebrate the day, but I'm so excited to be going home and seeing him at Christmas. When he got his first cell phone a few months ago, I was the first person he texted. My heart exploded to put it mildly. We have age and distance between us, but I have loved watching him continue to grow. I can't put into words how fun it is to find out all of the ways we differ and are the same.
My latest Bath & Body Works haul! They never let me down with the polar bears and I had to get this candle stand the minute I saw it. The adorable packaging of the Sugared Snickerdoodle caught my attention and I was afraid it would be too sickly sweet, but it's just right. I'm not too surprised that I like the Spiced Gingerbread. I adore the smell of gingerbread, just not the taste of it! They also offer a few of their holiday scents in the hand creams, which would make a perfect little stocking stuffer. I picked up the Spiced Gingerbread one. I also still have my Frosted Cranberry candle from my last haul that I've been waiting to burn. These are all so perfect for these weeks leading into the new year.
What's your favorite holiday scent? I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
