Aveeno Oat Masks with Pomegranate and Pumpkin

I was recently sent these two Aveeno masks to review. Of course I was happy to have been chosen, because I adore Aveeno products. It doesn't hurt that I enjoy face masks and that the packaging on these gave me straight up fall vibes. Throw oats, pomegranate, and pumpkin into the mix and I was a happy camper when I opened this delivery.

I did end up liking one of these more than the other and I'm surprised by which one it is. Both certainly have their merits, but I do think the results of one outlasted the other. Find out which one below!

There are three of these oat masks available. I'm missing the Moringa Seed Extract formula, which is considered a detox mask. Before I delve into the individual masks, I want to talk about the packaging. It's thick plastic and I think it would survive a fall to the floor, if you're anything like me and can drop anything at the drop of a hat. I also like that it is in a jar format. While I don't love using my hands, this makes it easy to use a brush or whatever your favorite application technique is. Also, I appreciate it when it comes to allowing you to get to all of it. The only place it says that these are for "glow" and "soothe" seems to only be on the outer box.

Pomegranate is a formula meant to make your skin glow with the pomegranate seed extract. What I like is that these masks also include squalane, which helps with moisture and is anti-aging.

This pomegranate mask smells amazing and feels good on. The formula doesn't dry down completely on the face, but it does get noticeably tighter similar to clay masks. My skin didn't feel as dry afterward as some face masks leave me feeling and I did notice a nice glow to my skin. Having sensitive skin, I did notice a bit of redness and heat after rinsing it off that lasted a short while. Other than that, I liked the effects of this mask.

The pumpkin formula is meant to soothe with the addition of pumpkin seed extract. These formulas include the aforementioned squalane  making these masks a great option for most skin types.

I prefer the scent of the pomegranate formula, but this is nice too- like a sweet watered-down pumpkin scent. Pumpkin seed extract has natural oil-balancing properties, so this is going to benefit dry or oily skin. It hydrates dry skin, combats blemishes, and soothes your skin. Hence, this being the soothing formula.

With that said, while I had a slight short-lasting flare-up of redness with the pomegranate formula, the pumpkin version was smooth sailing in that regard. It's a nice dose of hydration. It doesn't last as long as I'd like, but I suppose beggars can't be choosy. I feel like the glow and after affects of the pomegranate one lasted longer, so I rank it a little higher. As a gentle face mask, it hits the mark.

Have you tried these yet or plan to? I think they are a great drugstore option from a trusted brand!
