Rose hip oil is new for me! It's been on my radar, but I had not actually tried it. When I was sent these two products, it was very timely because I was nursing a sunburn from my trip back home. I've been trying these for weeks now and am happy to report back with my thoughts. Not only is rose hip oil new to me, but so is the brand Kosmea Australia. I love trying new (to me) brands! Here is what I think of Kosmea Australia's Rose Hip Oil and their Rescue Balm.
I love balms for spot treatments! You get a huge amount of this, which can go a long way. Once it's out of the tube, it practically melts into the skin. It's getting it to the top of the tube that is the problem, because it's so thick that it hates to budge. If you have a tip for getting the product out more easily, please do share! It has a slight medicinal smell that disappears once it's on the skin.
If you're looking for a balm that does a little bit of everything, look no further. Dry skin, chapped lips, sunburn, acne, cuts, rashes, etc. It hydrates my dry skin and does not cause any irritation. I've even been using it on my cuticles and skin around my nails. For you mamas out there, this could be a great choice to combat diaper rash! I love the addition of shea butter for added moisturization.
The rose hip oil stinks. I just want to get that out of the way. Not in how well it works, but in the actual scent. It really stinks (in my opinion). That has never stopped me from using a product, though. I love that there's a dropper. I adore droppers! This is suitable for all skin types. This is an oil that you can apply directly to the skin since it is a carrier oil. It only takes a few drops and absorbs quickly.
The scent lasts a little longer than I like, but it is tolerable. Both the balm and oil are orange in color but rub in clear. I'm using it as part of my anti-aging skincare, but I'm also thinking about trying it on my knee surgery scar to see if there is any difference. This oil should be stored in a cool and dark space to keep it lasting longer.
Rose hip oil seems to be really beneficial to skin and hair care. I've included a few of the benefits below to show just how versatile it can be! Also, it is rose hip oil, not to be confused with rose oil. Rose oil comes from rose petals and is an essential oil.
- helps reduce scars and acne
- moisturizes and hydrates dry and itchy skin due to essential fatty acids
- strengthens nails
- combat cradle cap or dandruff
- helps wrinkles and tightens pores
- repairs sun damaged skin
- firms skin
- heals minor burns
- natural exfoliator
- reduces hyperpigmentation
