Healthy Planet Grand Opening and Haul

This past weekend, I was invited to a grand opening for Healthy Planet at four different locations in Ontario. I had my choice of Cambridge, Ancaster, Milton, and Ajax. Ajax was the closest one, so we stopped by to check out the new store Saturday afternoon! It's crazy because I've shopped from my local Healthy Planet before, I'd just never actually gone in. It's always been my husband running in to grab what we need (usually a smoothie, protein powder, etc.).

What I didn't realize was that there was a beauty area. How in the heck did I not know this?! I'm kicking myself for not knowing this and for not taking a picture to share. Just know that I will definitely be utilizing that section in the future!

I did do a little shopping and received a generous gift bag full of product samples that I can't wait to work my way through.

There's aisle after aisle of protein powders, essential oils and vitamins, and then you get to my favorite part. The spices and food! My mistake was going in there hungry, because I wanted everything. They cater to a lot of different diets and lifestyles or to those who are just looking to replace some of their favorite foods with better for you options. I even noticed they carried some things that I was getting at a specialty store further away and now we can save some gas by not always having to go there for just those specific things. Total win!

I told you I went in there hungry. I came out with all food items! Haha! I have had the konjac rice before when I've made butter chicken, so I figured I'd give the spaghetti version a go. I found with the rice that once I added sauce and a protein that it wasn't that far off in taste and texture. Hoping to have the same luck! We also grabbed four food bars to split. We've already had two- the Good to Go Cinnamon Pecan and the PaleoThin Brownie bar. The cinnamon pecan one was good, but it did have a bit of a salty taste to it. I did not care for the brownie one at all, but my husband didn't mind it. The Raspberry Lemon one is his and the Peanut Butter & Jam one is mine. I have high hopes- mainly because I'm a peanut butter addict. Seriously, slap that stuff on anything and I'll go right into a full on drooling session.

The gift bag was full to the brim with samples that I have photographed in four different cattegories: drinks, food, vitamins (though I really should have put the Spry in with the food- d'oh!), and beauty. My husband is going to love the fruity drink powders, while I have my eye on the protein powders. The sample size of the Sharp Vision is huge and I'll be giving those to my husband to try because his vision is anything but sharp. And I'm pumped about the conditioner and mini deodorant. I've never tried a natural deodorant, though it's been something on my radar. What amazes me is that the box says this amount is enough for 1-2 weeks. Did not expect that and also totally approve of the lavender scent!
