I feel like I was just writing the 2017 post on this topic! This is a post all on the products that I've used the heck out of all year, not necessarily new to me. Some are even repeats from last year, because why change a good thing?
The only thing I can think of that I didn't include are concealers, but that's super easy because I pretty much stick to my HGs - MUFE Full Cover and Maybelline Age Rewind! Those don't really change, because I have yet to find anything that comes close to replacing them for me. I may venture away, but I always come back. Ya girl needs her concealer to feel human! What's your "I need it to feel human" product? Lipstick? Mascara?
Here are the beauty products that captured my love this year!
L'Oreal Lash Paradise
One of my favorite drugstore mascaras! A bit of a dupe to Too Faced Better Than Sex, but I prefer this one. I have better luck with it. Mascara is one of those products where I honestly don't feel it necessary to splurge. There are high end versions I love, but it's the drugstore ones I come back to. If there is one con to this mascara, it is that it dries out very quickly. A repeat from last year!
Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess Volume
Essence was a brand I wanted to branch out into. I think this mascara is under $5 and I remember not expecting a lot. It's just soooo good. I want to try their other mascaras now. The price is right! I love the length and volume I get from this formula.
ABH Soft Glam Palette
We all know I'm mourning the Urban Decay Naked Palette, but thank goodness that the Soft Glam exists. It's a great neutral palette. Easy to soften up for the work or school day and vamp up for a night out! And the formula is so easy to blend and work with. I think this would be a perfect choice for anyone who doesn't consider eyeshadow their strong point to the absolute pros.
Urban Decay 24/7 Bourbon Eye Pencil
I shopped my stash and rediscovered the beauty that is the shade Bourbon. I typically stick to taupes, so the brown has been a nice change. I put Stash and Rockstar to pretty good use, as well. The 24/7 pencils are my #1 eyeliner choice. I have luck with the staying power, they don't tug, and there are so many shades to choose from.
Essence Cosmetics Metal Shock Shadow
I have four of the shades, but the gold one in Solar Explosion is my most used. It pairs perfectly with the Soft Glam palette or any warm look. These are opaque, but you can easily sheer them out and make it suit your needs or taste. They dry down and I have no issues with them migrating. I've tried a few liquid eyeshadows and this is among the best. And again, you can't beat that Essence price range!
Joe Fresh Beauty Highlight Stick
Joe Fresh is new to me this year, but I have been loving what I picked up during the big sale at Shoppers Drug Mart. I picked up two of the Highlight Sticks, but I use this Pure Glow one the most. It layers well with blushes and other highlighters and just creates this beautiful glow.
Joe Fresh Beauty Hydra-Stay Foundation
It takes a lot for me to like a foundation. A LOT. I have more fails than successes, be it the shade or the formula. I picked this up in Porcelain and I'm just so pleased. It kind of feels like a tinted moisturizer on the skin. Light coverage, I'd say. Enough to cover any of my redness and let the concealer do the rest. The hydrating aspect is great and I usually have luck with it not sticking to any dry patches.
Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist
Another repeat! And this bad boy is on its way to empty. I probably only have one or two sprays left! I love this so much. I'll definitely be repurchasing the Milky Mist. I'm just trying to use up a few of my other sprays and mists first. This formula has hyaluronic acid, which my dry skin just eats up and then asks for seconds!
Tarte Paaarty Blush
We've got another repeat with this glorious blush. I love the Amazonian Clay formula. Lasting power is strong. They just melt into the skin. But this shade in particular has my heart. Paaarty is a great pink that can work for so many people. It's near impossible to overdo and looks good with every look.
Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink in Loyalist
This. Formula. Is. Everything. Give me every shade? A girl can dream! I will definitely be adding to my collection, though. I am so glad that I started with Loyalist. Wonderful choice for everyday! Trust me when I say that this formula has withstood everything I've thrown at it. Multiple meals and drinks, dog playing session, scarf up to my nose...you name it, this does not budge. As someone who hates touching up makeup, it's a dream.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Eclair
Another liquid lipstick formula in my good graces. There's a reason Bite Beauty only focuses on lip products and that's because they excel at them. Their lipsticks and liners are never a bad choice, but it's the liquid ones that I enjoy the most. Eclair is probably my most used from the shades I have. It's a nice neutral pink.
- Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick - Especially Beso. One of the best reds you could ask for.
- Benefit Rockateur Blush - Rose gold blushy goodness. Yes, please.
- Benefit The Porefessional Primer - Shopped my stash and rediscovered. I'm glad I did because I like it more then I remembered.
- Benefit Gimme Brow Fiber Gel - I was afraid the new formula wouldn't live up to the old. I was mistaken, as it is every bit as good, if not better.
- Joe Fresh CC Translucent Pressed Powder - Tones down any redness I have and doesn't look powdery on top of my makeup. Looks great in photos!
