August went by quickly and September seems to already be following suit! I looked out one of my windows earlier and saw a few yellow and orange leaves. Fall is coming! I already enjoyed a PSL from Starbucks last weekend. My cardigans are hanging up in my closet waiting to be worn. The boots are lined up. And my countdown has commenced!
I normally use these posts to give a little update on my knee, as well. If not interested, just scroll to the pictures! (New readers: I suffered a Tibial Plateau Fracture last summer.) I'm only having to go to physio once a month now. The last time I went, I saw one of my physio friends there. Our appointments don't always line up, so it had been a while since we had seen each other. But she truly lifted my spirits! It's so easy to go into a dark place when you're not making the progress that you think you should be or want so desperately.
She came over and as we were chatting, she was so full of praise for me upon seeing how far I have come along since we had last seen each other. I was still having to use my walker back then and starting the transition to a cane. I now walk unassisted at physio, at home, and a little in public (working on stamina!). But she just made me feel so good, because I don't always recognize the changes. I was meant to see her that afternoon, for sure!
I'm still working on walking correctly. I still can't fully straighten my leg, so it makes it more difficult. I don't know if that will be a permanent change, but I hope it isn't. I'm still working on bending my leg more, as well. And let me tell you, it really fights back. I just have to keep fighting back! And that's pretty much where I am at right now.
