Rimmel London Shake It Fresh Mascara and Trendsetter Lipstick

Influenster gave me a chance to test the new Shake It Fresh mascara from Rimmel London, as well as their The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Trendsetter. While I am not new to Rimmel, I am new to their mascara. I think I might have tried one from the brand years ago, but my favorite products from the brand are the lip products. I looooove Rimmel London lip products! (Spoiler alert on that note.)

Here are my thoughts on these two items!

Shake It Fresh Mascara
Holy moly, this thing is heavy. The tube has major weight to it! I'm guessing that is due to the mechanism inside that allows you to shake the bottle to keep the formula from drying out. When you shake it, something inside moves to break up the formula much like those little silver balls you can find in nail polishes.

For me, my eyelashes are on the straighter side and not that long. And for that, I think that was my main problem with this mascara. It's a very wet formula and while I thought it made my eyelashes thicker and not clumpy, it was hard to get them to hold a curl. I am not a big fan of wet formulas and this one was just messy for me and this one took a long time to dry down. A lot comes out on the brush that you have to wipe off on the side of the bottle.

I love the idea of being able to shake it and refresh the formula. I think it is such an innovative creation and I wish I liked it more. I don't hate it, but I have used far better mascaras.

The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in Trendsetter
Ah Rimmel lip products, how I love thee. I don't think I have a single lip item from them that I dislike. I still miss the Apocalips, but I haven't tried their replacement Provocalips. This is my first from the Only 1 Matte line. I believe some people were sent different shades, but I am super happy with Trendsetter. I do have some similar colors in my collection, so there might be a "Is it a dupe?" post coming up for the first time in a while.

This is a nice nude shade that I think will suit a lot of people. It does dry down as a matte and I experienced no feathering or accentuating of dry patches. The formula feels light on the lips and goes on opaque in one swipe while lasting a few hours on my lips before needing a touch-up. It has a strong fruity scent, but it goes away. This is a winner!
