I did a gift swap with a friend back home. The funny story about Kells is that we also swapped locations. She's actually from Ontario and moved to South Carolina and I'm from South Carolina and moved to Ontario. I'm pretty sure that's part of what first connected us on LiveJournal many moons ago and from that, a real-life friendship grew.
Along with some nice makeup samples, European chocolate (from her recent travels that I lived vicariously through!), and an adorable cupcake frame that I am going to put my favorite picture of us in, I got this thing of beauty. The Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette has become my newest love. This isn't my first Too Faced palette, but it is my first of their Chocolate Bar series. I didn't bite the bullet on the other two, because I figured my Urban Decay Naked palettes covered my bases. But this one sticks out from the rest. Here are my thoughts and swatches!
The eyeshadows are so soft. I was bummed when I nicked two of them just by opening the palette. You get 16 matte and shimmer shadows, two of them being highlight shades. They smell like cocoa powder and very smooth to the touch. It still leans on the neutral side, but there are a few fun shades to do more colorful looks.
I have Satin Sheets in another palette, so I already knew I'd like that one. The mattes, like Almond Truffle and Mocha, are incredibly easy to blend. Cotton Candy is an easy pink to work with. I haven't yet used Totally Fetch in a look, as I find bright pinks and reds to be personally challenging to pull off. But oh my gosh, can we talk about the name?! So perfect. Mean Girls forever.
The colors I have been using the most are Molasses Chip, Malted, Cafe Au Lait, and Divinity. I really want to use Earl Grey in a look next. There is only one color in this palette that I am disappointed in and it's the one I was most excited about. Black Currant is gorgeous in the pan, but it is so hard to work with. It does not blend well and you really have to pack it on.
Chocolate Bon Bons is capable of so many looks and I really do recommend it. I think they succeeded at providing an everyday palette that isn't just neutrals. And aside from Black Currant, they all swatch and apply like a dream.
Do you own the Bon Bons palette? Let me know what you think in the comments!
